General Therapy Consultation

Consultation is for individuals and families dealing with personal and life challenges, a difficult transition, or a crisis. Consultations tend to be time-limited and problem or goal-oriented in nature. In these sessions, we take a solution-based approach using assessment, education, guidance, advice, and resources. One example might be a family member who is struggling with an addiction and/or a mental health issue.

General Therapy Consultation

We can go farther together.

Therapy consultations allow a client, parent, or family member to explore concerns and to make decisions or changes in their lives that move them in a helpful direction. The consultation process is an opportunity to speak extensively about any problems and concerns in your current situation. A consultation is a proactive and preventative approach to obtaining guidance and support during a crisis, life transition, or a particular situation. At the end of the consultation process, I offer clients my assessment and a recommendation for treatment.

EMDR Consultation: Individual and Group

I provide individual and group consultation to EMDR therapists. As an EMDRIA-approved consultant, the consultation hours I provide EMDR-trained therapists post-training count towards their certification in EMDR. In order to be certified, licensed therapists who complete an EMDRIA-approved training must receive 20 hours of consultation from an EMDRIA-approved consultant. The hours can include 10 hours of group and 10 of individual consultation or 20 hours of individual consultation. Contact me to learn more.

I meet with consultees in my office in Boulder, Colorado, or speak with them on the phone from many areas of the United States and abroad. In the consultation, I answer questions, give advice, and help illuminate areas of difficulty and confusion. To prepare, I ask that consultees bring cases to present including client history, case conceptualization, and session process notes. I have found that this preparation helps consultees organize their thinking and enables me to understand how best to advise them.
I consult with small groups of EMDR therapists in my Boulder and Denver, Colorado offices and also by telephone. The groups provide therapists with the opportunity to ask questions, get help with challenging cases, better understand protocols and procedures, and get assistance with case conceptualization, resource development and installation, targeting, interweaves, and parts work. The groups meet for two hours once a month. If you are interested in being part of a group or starting a group in your community, you are welcome to call me to go over details.
